Fire Safety of Finlayson Pro Interior Design Textiles
The curtains and duvets in the Finlayson Pro collection are made using Trevira ® CS fiber, which is slow to ignite and is self-extinguishing.
- Textiles come under the Finnish ignition class SL 1.
- Our curtain fabrics comply with the International Maritime Organization’s Fire Test Procedures Code (IMO FTPC) Part 7 for vertically supported textiles and films..
- All bedspread fabrics comply with the International Maritime Organization’s Fire Test Procedures Code (IMO FTPC) Part 9 for bedding components.
- Trevira CS products have also been tested in accordance with the DIN 4102 standard and come under fire safety class B1.
Fire Safety of Finlayson Pro Bed Products
The fire safety of Finlayson Pro products has been ascertained by tests conducted in accordance with the following standards.
Finnish ignition class SL 1, difficult to ingnite.
- The product passes the flame and cigarette test.
- The product meets the fire safety requirements of the International Maritime Organization’s Fire Test Procedures Code (IMO FTPC) Part 9.
Finlayson Pro products belonging to ignitability class SL 1 and bearing the wheel mark have received MED certification.
- EC (Module B+D) certificate for MED
- Notified bodies used VTT 0803 (B) / LRV 0038 (D).
- Annex A1 Product type: A.1/3.21 Bedding
Ignitability class SL 2, ordinarily ignitable
- The product passes the cigarette test.
- The products meet SFS-EN 597-1 requirements.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100
Most Finlayson and Familon products comply with the international Oeko-Tex standard. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label guarantees that products are safe for consumers. To achieve recognition, the textiles must be tested by an independent research institute recognised by Oeko-Tex. Finlayson products contain no substances that are harmful to human skin and are thus ideal for those with allergies or sensitive skin.

Working with the Finnish Allergy and Asthma Federation
Finlayson works closely with the Finnish Allergy and Asthma Federation to ensure that materials used in the Finlayson Pro-products are suitable for general use and to provide safe alternatives for allergy sufferers. Advance testing of new materials prevents the use of harmful materials in consumer products. The majority of Finlayson Pro products have been awarded the Finnish Allergy and Asthma Federation allergy label.All Finlayson Pro Trevira CS printed fabrics and our own-production sheets also carry the allergy label. In addition, they comply with the Finnish Allergy and Asthma Federation’s new accommodation criteria and are therefore suitable for rooms designed for allergy sufferers.
